1. Entry formalities
Show your passport at border control. Many nationalities, including European Union citizens, do not need a visa for a short tourist stay. Requirements depend on your nationality: check them with the embassy or consulate before you travel.
2. Changing money
The Tunisian dinar (TND) cannot be bought outside Tunisia. Exchange offices and cash machines are located in the arrivals area. Keep your exchange receipts: you may be asked for them to change your dinars back when you leave.
3. Staying connected
The main Tunisian operators offer prepaid SIM cards with data bundles, sold at the airport or in town (passport required). Handy for using WhatsApp and GPS during your stay.
4. Finding your driver
If you have booked a private transfer, your driver will be waiting for you in the arrivals hall with a sign bearing your name. He tracks your flight: if it is delayed, don't worry, he adjusts his arrival time.
5. Getting to your destination
Central Tunis is about twenty minutes away. For the seaside resorts, allow around 55 minutes to Hammamet, 1 h 20 to Sousse and 1 h 45 to Monastir. See our transfer prices for all destinations.
Private transfer at a fixed price from Tunis-Carthage, flight tracking included.
